Metal Detector Club

Come along to Metal Detector Club on Wednesday 7th August.

Meet at 2.30pm at Portswood Place. Metal detectors and spades will be provided. The event will be followed by refreshments.

Alton Youth Advisory Panel Launch

Are you aged 10-18? Do you want to help shape the Alton renewal plans?

The Alton Renewal Team is launching the Alton Advisory Panel on Saturday 10th August at 12pm. Come along to 6 Portswood Place, SW15 4ED and get involved in shaping the design of the Alton Renewal project. Come along and learn about your area and find out how you can help. We will be offering a £20 gift voucher and certificate of participation after each session.

Big Day Out

You are invited to join the 1st birthday celebrations of Chantelle's Community Kitchen.

The Big Day Out will take place from 1pm on Saturday 10th August in Portswood Place.

There will be a free BBQ, DJ, face painting and sun catcher making. If you are able to bring along plain trainers, there will also be trainer decorating.

From 3.30pm, Nolita Golding will be performing two salsa themed sets, with salsa dance classes available.

On Tuesday 13th and Tuesday 20th August, you are invited to join the Super Fruit Club.

Taking place from 11am until 1pm in Alton Arts Hub (6 Portswood Place SW15 4ED), there will be free fruit-themed crafting and fresh fruit dishes for kids to create.


Run Walk Scoot


The 2024 "Run, Walk, Scoot" event has been scheduled for Thursday 15th August. This year's event starts anytime from 2pm and finishes by 4pm.

Participants are asked to visit five different locations this year:

  • The Alton Primary School on Danebury Avenue
  • Portswood Space in Portswood Place
  • Alton Activity Centre on Harbridge Avenue
  • Heathmere Primary School on Alton Road
  • The Rainbow Steps at the top of Danebury Avenue

Those taking part are invited to start wherever they like, pick up a stamp at each of the venues listed above, and finish at the Rainbow Steps on Danebury Avenue.  

Routes are not marshalled and entrants are responsible for their own safety. 

ALL entrants finish at the Rainbow Steps on Danebury Avenue.

Chantelle's Community Kitchen

As featured on BBC London News, Chantelle's Community Kitchen offers pre-packed nutritious homemade meals every Tuesday between 11am and 1pm.

Come along to Portswood Space (4 Portswood Place SW15 4ED) for a free homemade meal to eat in or takeaway. Donations will be much appreciated if you feel able.

Chantelle’s Community Kitchen always welcomes new volunteers, with or without cooking experience. There are a variety of roles to fill in the friendly kitchen on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Our coffee mornings provide you with an opportunity to take a break, meet new friends and find out what's going on in your local community. Up-to-date information on activities and services for women and families is provided. 

Join us every Wednesday from 10.30am - 12.30pm in the Alton Activity Centre on the corner of Ellisfield Drive/Harbridge Avenue SW15 4EZ.
